Tech progress

This term our main focus was to build a lost property for all the lost property around the school.

First we brainstormed what we should build for our school. The biggest problem we convided in was the lost property around the school and the current state of our lost property box. So we all decided we should make a lost property box.

Second, We started to do a concept statement, we wrote why we needed to have a lost property box and then we got our budget and started the..

Design problem\ design brief, we all talked about what we wanted the box to have and how we wanted it to look and we all drew a sketch of what we wanted. We all came together and kind of took a little thing from everybody’s designs and put them into 1.

Then we made templates out of nets on paper and we all concluded in a design that we were happy about.

Right now we are measuring and cutting out 35cm by 35cm squares on triboard wood.

This week with Rob we have started wrapping our boxes with our collages that we have made. Our lost property boxes are coming together slowly but surely. We finished sticking our collages to our boxes with PVA glue which when it dries we will put varnish on all the sides.

During this process I have learnt how to screw, drill and use wood glue.

My favourite part of this project was painting the boxes.

I wish I spent more time on putting our collages on because they are not very nicely stuck on.I think my best work was the painting. My least enjoyable part of this project was watching our teacher eat food in front of us. I think if I had to change anything about this project it would be giving us more time.

Writing Prompt 

If I hadn’t learnt to time travel this would have never happened…..

As I looked around, I heard screams from every direction. All I was thinking was why did I go into the future.That’s all i heard when i closed my eyes.My thoughts were destroying me, i tried not to think but the silence was killer too. Then something touched my shoulder and I suddenly sprung back to reality. As my friend dragged me to an abandoned warehouse.

“Why did you do this Iris? Why did you bring them here?” She cried, shaking me vigorously. While she had tears streaming down her face. 

“They’re all gone!” 

“Who’s gone?”

“My family,friends, the love of my life, they’re all gone!”

Then the realization hit me, people are dying.Because of me.then i looked at her neck there was what looked like rope marks around her neck my best friend had tried to kill herself because she lost everything because of me.

All of a sudden a loud screeching sound came from the door to the left of us. I quickly grabbed Billy Gene ( my best friend ) and hid behind some  messed up cargo boxes that were close to us. “Who’s there?” I mumbled. But no response. Just 30 seconds later we heard the screeching sound again. “Who’s there?” I repeated.  But still no answer. I kept repeating this one sentence and another until “CRASH” the door swung open. That’s when I saw the things that i accidently bought over. Those things suddenly just kept coming one after the other. They created a circle around us and we were surrounded… by human terminators.

That’s how I discovered that I was the one who started the robot apocalypse. As the robots  closed in, a sudden pump of adrenaline went through me.I suddenly jumped up.And before I knew it. I was over 8 meters up in the air . My arm reached out and I was on the second floor of the ruined building we were in. I screamed out for Billy Gene  to jump. But all she did was smile at me and started walking towards the robots, shot her several times, on her last breath as he suddenly said 

“See you soon Iris”

“N000”I cried

As I was covering my mouth, I could hear her body drop to the cold concrete floor. I started climbing higher and higher up the ruined building. Jumping from rock to pipes to metal rods. As I jumped I could feel tears streaming down my dirty pale face .” Ahhhhh!” I shredded my hand and missed the metal rod in front of me as I was falling. I couldn’t help but feel relieved.

Today this morning this woman called Gina came in. she set up the game ripper adn we all got split up in teams. Gina played this game with us to help us understand a deeper meaning of teamwork. It was quite enjoyable running around stealing eachothers tags in the hall. I was in a team of three, while the other teams had teams of 7,5 and 6. yes i know you would think it was unfair but yet my team still ended up having around thye same amount of tags wheater we had less or more than the others. But it very entertaining seeing people jump around and squel.

TAPP!!!!

A couple days ago we had picture day. I first took a photo with my little sister. Then as we were waiting in a line for photos me and my friends took phottos together like we have done for the past year.We did some poses and then we were up as I looked and the camara my eyes sore from the flash , the lady taking our phtos fixing my stance and pose. I  hopped of the chair and walked to class thinking, “wow that didnt take long”.

Right now were are doing swim safe at our school.Every day this week we are swimming an learning how to be extra safe in the water. Were learning how to float, hold our breath etc. we have an amazing woman called Skylar who is helping and teaching us new skills and habits. Its always quite interesting ton see what other things we can do to stay a float and stay alive if we are ever in trouble.Its fun but the only bad thing is that it is extremly cold because it is winter.

The Opera

 My favorite character was Dr Dulcamara, I loved his facial expressions and the way he acted and sang. He had an amazing voice and I thought he was a very needed character.

The most surprising thing that I saw was how quickly you could just change the background and setting from just turning the set around. Also how Sarah and Ipu would sing high notes and barely open their mouths. I thought that was really impressive.

I really liked the outfits that you guys wore. Such as adina’s costume was very pretty with the blues and white and I love the shoes that she wore,Nemorino’s outfit was nice as the flannel and jorts really suited the character in my opinion, Belcore’s costume was very nicely fitting for his character the maroon pants and suit I thought was very nice. Finally Dr dulcamara’s outfit was amazing having a suit on top and basketball pants on the bottom, very kiwi. And obviously don’t forget Belcore’s aqua, shrek man costume is very on the famous side…
